Consisting of just under 17 million articles, 19th Century U. S. Newspapers from the Gale Cengage Company is a genealogy or history buff's dream come true. Fully searchable by keyword, this database includes papers from across the U.S., and is particularly strong on the Midwest. Newspapers with significant runs include the Milwaukee Journal, Milwaukee Sentinel, Wisconsin State Journal, Chicago Evening Journal, Cleveland Daily Herald, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, and Frederick Douglass' Paper, to name just a few.

Academic Search Premier from EBSCO is the world's largest scholarly, multi-disciplinary database containing full text for nearly 4,500 journals, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed titles. Academic Search Premier is an enormous collection of the most valuable peer-reviewed full text journals, offering critical information from many sources unique to this database. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for another 1,000 titles. Designed to offer current news pertaining to all branches of the military, this database includes a collection of periodicals, academic journals and other content which meets those interests. The Military & Government Collection from EBSCOhost provides cover-to-cover full text for nearly 300 publications, full text for 245 pamphlets, and indexing and summaries for an additional 500 titles. Some of the titles featured in this database include Air Force Comptroller, Army Reserve Magazine, Defence Studies, JFQ: Joint Force Quarterly, Military Technology, National Review, Combat Edge, FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, Foreign Affairs, and Naval Forces. For an understanding of history as it was made, nothing can take the place of a daily newspaper. , The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has now made available this searchable archive to The Milwaukee Journal, The Milwaukee Sentinel and The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel which covers the time period of 1884-2007. Articles cannot be printed or downloaded, but links may be e-mailed. To search Milwaukee newspapers prior to 1884, use 19th Century U.S. Newspapers. As part of Heritage Archives, Access NewspaperARCHIVE offers coverage for over 5,900 newspaper titles, with articles dating from the 1700's to the present. The database contains tens of millions fully searchable pages representing the U.S., Canada, Jamaica, Germany, Ireland, Japan, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, in .pdf format. More than 700 Wisconsin newspapers are included, and Milwaukee is represented by the Milwaukee Sentinel, the Milwaukee Daily American, the Wisconsin Banner and approximately 40 others.
